Less “living grey” and more full color

Dear fellow healers,

Trauma can have a significant impact on our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and can often lead to patterns of behavior that may not serve us well in our relationships.

One reason why trauma can cause us to stay in painful relationships is that it can affect our self-worth and self-esteem. When we’ve experienced trauma, we may develop negative beliefs about ourselves, such as feeling unworthy or unlovable.

These beliefs can make it difficult for us to leave, as we may feel that we don’t deserve better or that we won’t be able to find someone else who will treat us well.

Additionally, trauma can also affect our ability to trust others, which can make it difficult for us to form healthy relationships. If we’ve been hurt in the past, we may be more likely to stay in a painful situation because we fear being hurt again if we leave.

We may also become accustomed to the dynamics of pain or abuse and may not recognize that it’s not healthy or normal.

It’s important to remember that while trauma can have a significant impact on our relationships, it’s never too late to seek help and begin to heal from past wounds.

Working with a therapist who specializes in trauma can be a powerful step towards developing healthier patterns and creating a life that feels more fulfilling and authentic. Less “living grey” and more full color.
